NEGOTIATED PURCHASES SUMMARIES BELOW
DTN COMMENTS: Formula totals for last week were mixed, higher in Kansas and
Texas, but lower in Nebraska: KS 66,719(+6,035), NE 38,606(-5,986), TX
70,702(+5,089). Total trade volume was higher in all three major feeding
states: KS 79,479(+16,742), NE 70,529(+15,066), TX 77,294(+7,792). New
showlists appear to be modestly lower in Kansas, and lower in Texas and
Nebraska/Colorado. Bids and asking prices have yet to be established, and
significant trade volume will likely be delayed until the second half of the
week.
Beef cutouts are higher at midday (Choice 383.06 +2.00, Select 382.52 +5.92),
with very light box movement (20.91 lds of choice cuts, 3.72 lds of select
cuts, 0.00 lds of trim, and 5.26 lds of ground). Live cattle futures are
modestly to moderately lower while feeder issues are sharply lower at the top
of the noon hour.
